... began his musical training while still in school with the boy’s choir of the Jena Philharmonic. He studied music education at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar, then choir conducting with Prof J. Puschbeck, followed by acting at the Center for Creativity and Theater in Copenhagen.
In 2009, the baritone successfully completed his vocal studies with Prof. Friedemann Röhlig, at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig. Complementing his education were masterclasses with Sir Simon Estes, Norman Shetler, and Peter Berne. He is currently a fellowship holder at the Thuringian Opera Studio under the supervision of Prof. H. J. Beyer.
His various engagements have led him to the Neuköllner Oper, Berlin, where he could be seen and heard in Puccini’s La Bohème, as well as to the Hamburg Kammeroper and the Mitteldeutsche Kammeroper. The orchestras with whom he has worked include, in addition to the Jena Philharmonic, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig.
His guest performance in Andreas Bode’s interpretation of the Mozart Requiem led him to Kampnagel Hamburg as well as Radialsystem Berlin. In the summer of 2009, he sang Fiorillo for the first time with the Leipzig Opera in Rossini’s Barber of Seville. A special success was the co-production of Intrigo Internazionale by director J. Müller and the Bavarian State Opera Munich, based on Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, in which he sang Conte Almaviva.
In the area of modern music, he has performed with the Ensemble Courage, Dresden, and the Argento Chamber Ensemble, New York.
For the past seven seasons, Lemke has been regularly engaged by the Theater Nordhausen, the German National Theater Weimar and the Theater Erfurt. Among others, his roles include Ned Keene in Britten’s Peter Grimes and Morales in Bizet’s Carmen. Other guest appearances have led him most recently to theatres in Rudolstadt and Bamberg and as Nelusco in Meyerbeers’ L’Africaine to Konstanz.
