Berlin Concert Orchestra

Initiated by Jan Olberg, the director of the Berlin Concert Choir, the Berliner Konzert Orchester e.V. was founded in February 2004 under the chairmanship of Dr Uwe Mehlitz. Jan Olberg has taken over the artistic direction of the orchestra, and Dr Uwe Mehlitz is its artistic director.

Affinity and independence

The Berliner Konzert Orchester is closely associated with the choir and thus also with the entire Berliner Konzert group. Its first concert after its foundation was the festive concert of the Berliner Konzert Chor on the occasion of its 50th anniversary on 9 November 2004 with Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Since then, the orchestra has accompanied most of the BKC's concerts and has attracted a great deal of attention in the professional world. It is an independent institution and is available to all organisers for their concerts.
