Barbara Kind

Soprano

... studied singing with Professor Julie Kaufmann at the Berlin University of the Arts and graduated with honours in both opera (2005) and concert and oratorio (2006). Masterclasses with René Jacobs, Kristina Laki, Sylvia Geszty and Axel Bauni complemented her training.

After completing her studies, she worked as a freelance singer, developed a large concert repertoire and took part in many opera productions, for example at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Poznan Opera House, at various festivals in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and at the Festtage Alter Musik in Bamberg. Since April 2008, she has been a permanent member of the Rundfunkchor Berlin, where she has also appeared as a soloist, including in Angst by Christian Joost at the Komische Oper Berlin, in Mozart's Idomeneo at the Festival d'Aix en Provence and in Bach's St Matthew Passion in the scenic ritualisation by Peter Sellars. As a sought-after concert soloist, she has sung in the major concert halls in Berlin and abroad, for example in a concert performance of Carmen with the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle in Caracas in 2010. Her repertoire includes the great masses and oratorios as well as modern compositions.
